Legislative Incentives for Future Excellence Program

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University, Vocational/Occupational/Scholarship)

Purpose: Scholarship for students from South Carolina to attend an institution of higher education in South Carolina. For students attending a four-year institution, two of the following three criteria must be met: 1) minimum 3.0 GPA, 2) 1100 SAT or 24 ACT, or 3) graduate in the top 30% of class. Students attending a two-year or technical college must have a 3.0 GPA, SAT and class rank requirements are waived. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Palmetto Fellows Scholarship Program

(Four Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: Renewable award for qualified high school seniors in South Carolina to attend a four-year South Carolina institution. Must rank in top 5% of class at the end of sophomore or junior year, earn a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale, and score at least 1200 on the SAT or 27 on the ACT. Submit official transcript, test scores, and application by established deadline (usually January 15th of senior year). Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Purpose: One-year merit-based scholarship for eligible first-time entering freshmen attending a four-year institution. Minimum 3.0 GPA. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

South Carolina Need-Based Grants Program

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University, Vocational/Occupational/Grant)

Purpose: Award based on results of Free Application for Federal Student Aid. A student may receive up to $2500 annually for full-time and up to $1250 annually for part-time study. The grant must be applied toward the cost of attendance at a South Carolina college for up to eight full-time equivalent terms. Student must be degree-seeking. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.
