Distinguished Student Scholar Award

(Four Year College, University/Prize)

Purpose: The Distinguished Student Scholar Award is presented in recognition of an education major who has displayed leadership potential and a strong dedication to education. Award given out in odd years. Minimum 3.5 GPA required. Focus: Education Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens. Award available to employees or relatives of employees within the following industries: community service.

Janet Ishikawa-Daniel Fullmer Scholarship in Counseling

(University/Scholarship)

Purpose: The scholarship provides $1000 to outstanding students pursuing graduate degrees in counseling or counseling psychology. Applicant should display leadership potential and be involved in extracurricular activities. Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 during the junior or senior years of the undergraduate degree program and, if applicable, in all courses taken while enrolled in a graduate program is required. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Research Grants

(Four Year College, Postgraduate, University/Grant)

Purpose: Pi Lambda Theta Research Grants are awarded in amounts up to $2500 for clearly conceptualized research proposals concerning education. Semiannual application deadlines are January 1 and June 1. Minimum 3.5 GPA required. Grants restricted to Pi Lambda Theta members. Focus: Education Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Tobin Sorenson Physical Education Scholarship

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: The Tobin Sorenson Scholarship provides $1000 for tuition to an outstanding student who intends to pursue a career at the K-12 level as a physical education teacher, adaptive physical education teacher, coach, recreational therapist, dance therapist, or similar professional focusing on teaching the knowledge and use of the human body. Awarded in odd years only. Minimum 3.5 GPA required. Focus: Sports-related; Therapy/Rehabilitation Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Student Support Scholarship

Purpose: This scholarship is available to current members of Pi Lambda Theta who will be a full-time or part-time student enrolled in a minimum of three semester hours at a regionally accredited institution during the year following the award. Minimum 3.5 GPA required. Focus: Education Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Nadeen Burkeholder Williams Music Scholarship

(Four Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: The scholarship provides $1000 to an outstanding K-12 teacher who is pursuing a graduate degree at an accredited college or university and who is either a music education teacher or applies music systematically in teaching another subject. Minimum 3.5 GPA required. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens. Award available to employees or relatives of employees within the following industries: teaching.
