Purpose: Merit-based scholarship/loan program for North Carolina residents who are U.S. citizens and plan to enter the nursing profession full-time. Must plan to study in a North Carolina graduate program. Preference given to full-time students. Twelve months of service as a full-time nurse cancels one full year of support. Minimum of six months consecutive full-time employment with one employer is required to qualify for service cancellation. Purpose: Must be U.S. citizen and North Carolina resident. Award available through financial aid offices of North Carolina colleges and universities that offer nurse education programs to prepare students for licensure in the state as LPN or RN. Recipients enter contract with the State of North Carolina to work full time as a licensed nurse. Loans not repaid through service must be repaid in cash. Award based upon financial need. Maximum award for students enrolled in Associate Degree Nursing and Practical Nurse Education programs is $3000. Maximum award for students enrolled in a Baccalaureate program is $5000.
