Purpose: Renewable award for students accepted to one of four medical schools in North Carolina. Must be a resident of North Carolina and be nominated by medical school for the award. Stipend, tuition and required fees provided. Applicant must intend to practice medicine in North Carolina. Deadline is in April. Purpose: Renewable award for high school seniors who are residents of designated North Carolina counties and are planning to attend North Carolina State University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill or the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Master's Nurse Scholars Program (M-NSP)

Purpose: Merit-based scholarship/loan program for North Carolina residents who are U.S. citizens and plan to enter the nursing profession full-time. Must plan to study in a North Carolina graduate program. Preference given to full-time students. Twelve months of service as a full-time nurse cancels one full year of support. Minimum of six months consecutive full-time employment with one employer is required to qualify for service cancellation. Purpose: Annual award for North Carolina residents enrolled at least part-time in a North Carolina community college curriculum program. Priority given to those enrolled in college transferable curriculum programs, persons seeking new job skills, women in non-traditional curricula, and those participating in an ABE, GED, or high school diploma program. Nurse Education Scholarship Loan Program (NESLP)

Purpose: Must be U.S. citizen and North Carolina resident. Award available through financial aid offices of North Carolina colleges and universities that offer nurse education programs to prepare students for licensure in the state as LPN or RN. Recipients enter contract with the State of North Carolina to work full time as a licensed nurse. Loans not repaid through service must be repaid in cash. Award based upon financial need. Maximum award for students enrolled in Associate Degree Nursing and Practical Nurse Education programs is $3000. Maximum award for students enrolled in a Baccalaureate program is $5000. Purpose: Forgivable loans to residents of North Carolina who have gained full acceptance to a North Carolina institution of higher education that offers a nursing program. Must apply to the North Carolina State Education and Welfare division. Must serve as a registered nurse in North Carolina for one year for each year of funding. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.
