3% Scholarship Program

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: Award equal to tuition and required fees for New Mexico residents who are undergraduate students attending public postsecondary institutions in New Mexico. Allied Health Student Loan Program-New Mexico

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University/Loan)

Purpose: Renewable loans for New Mexico residents enrolled in an undergraduate allied health program. Loans can be forgiven through service in a medically underserved area or can be repaid. Penalties apply for failure to provide service. May borrow up to $12,000 per year for four years. Focus: Health and Medical Sciences; Dental Health/Services; Nursing; Social Sciences; Therapy/Rehabilitation Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Legislative Endowment Scholarships

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: Awards for undergraduate students with substantial financial need who are attending public postsecondary institutions in New Mexico. Preference given to returning adult students at two-year and four-year institutions and students transferring from two-year to four-year institutions. Deadline set by each institution. Must be resident of New Mexico. Contact financial aid office of any New Mexico public postsecondary institution to apply. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Lottery Success Scholarships

(Four Year College, Two Year College/Scholarship)

Purpose: Awards equal to 100% of tuition at New Mexico public postsecondary institution. Must have New Mexico high school degree and be enrolled at New Mexico public college or university in first regular semester following high school graduation. Must obtain 2.5 GPA during this semester. May be eligible for up to eight consecutive semesters of support. Deadlines vary by institution. Apply through financial aid office of any New Mexico public postsecondary institution. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Medical Student Loan-For-Service Program

(Four Year College, University/Loan)

Purpose: Award for New Mexico residents accepted by or enrolled in public school of medicine in the U.S. Preference given to students attending UNM School of Medicine. Must practice as physician or physician assistant in designated health professional shortage area in New Mexico. Award dependent upon financial need but may not exceed $12,000 per year. Deadline: July 1. Focus: Health and Medical Sciences Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Minority Doctoral Assistance Loan-For-Service Program

(Four Year College, University/Loan)

Purpose: Several loans available to increase the number of ethnic minorities and women available to teach in academic disciplines in which they are underrepresented. Must have a bachelor's or master's degree from New Mexico four-year public postsecondary institution and be accepted for enrollment as full-time doctoral student at eligible institution. As condition of the loan, recipient is required to teach at sponsoring New Mexico institution for a minimum of one year for each year loan is awarded. Several renewable loans for up to $25,000 per year. Deadline is in January. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

New Mexico Competitive Scholarship

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: Scholarship available to encourage out-of-state students who have demonstrated high academic achievement to enroll in public institutions of higher education in New Mexico. One-time award for undergraduate students. Deadlines set by each institution. Contact financial aid office of any New Mexico public postsecondary institution to apply. New Mexico Health Professional Loan Repayment Program

(Postgraduate/Loan)

Purpose: Program to provide for repayment of outstanding student loans of practicing health professionals in return for two-year service commitment with optional one-year renewals in a designated medical shortage area in New Mexico. Deadline: May 1. Focus: Health and Medical Sciences; Nursing; Dental Health/ Services Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens. Award available to employees or relatives of employees within the following industries: designated career field.

New Mexico Scholars' Program

(Four Year College, Two Year College/Scholarship)

Purpose: Several scholarships to encourage New Mexico high school graduates to enroll in college at a public or selected private nonprofit postsecondary institution in New Mexico before their 22nd birthday. Selected private colleges are College of Santa Fe, St. John's College in Santa Fe, and College of the Southwest. Must have graduated in top 5% of their class or obtained an ACT score of 25 or SAT score of 1140. One-time scholarship for tuition, books, and fees. Contact financial aid office at college to apply. Purpose: Several grants available for resident undergraduate students attending public and selected private nonprofit institutions in New Mexico. Must demonstrate financial need. Teachers' Loan-For-Service Program

(Loan)

Purpose: To increase the number of teachers to serve as role models to K-12 students in New Mexico. Open to New Mexico residents who are accepted by or enrolled in an accredited program for teacher credentialing/licensure program at a public postsecondary institution in New Mexico. Must declare their intent to provide teaching service for a specified period of time at a public pre-school, elementary, or secondary school in New Mexico. Focus: Education Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.
