Gerald Boyd/Robin Stone Non-Sustaining Scholarship

(Four Year College/Scholarship)

Purpose: One-time scholarship is open to any African-American student who is currently enrolled in an accredited four-year institution. Must be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student and maintain a 3.0 GPA. Major must be in print journalism. Must be NABJ member before award. Focus: Journalism Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens. Award available to the following races: African American.

Funds Avail.: Minimum no. of awards: 1. Minimum award amount: $2500. To Apply: Required: application form; transcript; essay; reference(s); photograph; six samples of work. Deadline: 4/30. Contact: Program and Exposition Coordinator, 301-445-7100.

Allison Fisher Scholarship

(University/Scholarship)

Purpose: Available to any African-American student who is currently attending an accredited university. Must be majoring in print journalism and maintain a 3.0 GPA. Recipient will attend NABJ convention and participate in mentor program. Previous NABJ scholarship winners not eligible. Must be NABJ member before award. Focus: Journalism Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to the following races: African American.

National Association of Black Journalists and Newhouse Foundation Scholarship

(Four Year College/Scholarship)

Purpose: Renewable award for African-American high school seniors planning to attend an accredited four-year college or university and major in journalism. Minimum 3.0 GPA required. Summer internship also required. Submit work sample and autobiography with application. Recipients attend NABJ convention and participate in mentor program. Must be NABJ member before award. Focus: Journalism Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students considered. Award available to the following races: African American.

Funds Avail.: Minimum no. of awards: 2. Minimum award amount: $5000. No. and Amount Awarded Last Calendar Year: 1 scholarship(s), totalling $5,000. National Association of Black Journalists Non-Sustaining Scholarship Awards

(Four Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: One-time award for African-American college students attending a four-year institution and majoring in journalism. Minimum 2.5 GPA required. Submit letter from adviser, work sample, autobiography, resume, and photo with application. Recipient will attend NABJ convention and participate in mentor program. Previous NABJ scholarship winners not eligible. Must be NABJ member before award. Focus: Journalism; Photojournalism/Photography; TV/Radio Broadcasting Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to the following races: African American.

Funds Avail.: Minimum no. of awards: 10. Minimum award amount: $2500. No. and Amount Awarded Last Calendar Year: 10 scholarship(s), totalling $25,000.
