Purpose: One-time award for pre-doctoral or postdoctoral research into, and writing about, the history of aviation and space flight. In some years funding may permit more than one fellowship. For a 12-month term, stipend for postdoctoral fellows is $30,000; $20,000 for pre-doctoral fellows. Prorated for shorter terms. See Web site at http://www.nasm.si.edu for further details. An advanced degree is not necessary. Residence in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area during the twelve-month term of the fellowship is a requirement.
