Indian Student Fee Waiver

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: Fee waiver awarded by the Montana University System to undergraduate and graduate students meeting the criteria. Amount varies depending upon the tuition and registration fee at each participating college. Students must provide documentation of one-fourth Indian blood or more; must be a resident of Montana for at least one year prior to enrolling in school and must demonstrate financial need. Full- or part-time study qualifies. Complete and submit the FAFSA by March 1 and a Montana Indian Fee Waiver application form. Contact the financial aid office at the college of attendance to determine eligibility. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens. Award available to the following races: Native American/Eskimo.

Montana Higher Education Opportunity Grant

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University/Grant)

Purpose: This grant is awarded based on need to undergraduate students attending either part-time or full-time who are residents of Montana and attending participating Montana schools. Awards are limited to the most needy students. A specific major or program of study is not required. This grant does not need to be repaid, and students may apply each year. Apply by filing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid by March 1 and contacting the financial aid office at the admitting college. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Funds Avail.: Maximum no. of awards: 800. Minimum award amount: $400. Maximum award amount: $600. No. and Amount Awarded Last Calendar Year: 775 grant(s), totalling $368,000. Montana Tuition Assistance Program-Baker Grant

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University/Grant)

Purpose: Need-based grant for Montana residents attending participating Montana schools who have earned at least $2,575 during the previous calendar year. Must be enrolled full time. Grant does not need to be repaid. Award covers the first undergraduate degree or certificate. Apply by filing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid by March 1 and contacting the financial aid office at the admitting college. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Montana University System Honor Scholarship

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: Scholarship provides a four-year renewable fee waiver of tuition and registration and is awarded to graduating high school seniors from accredited high schools in Montana. 300-400 scholarships are awarded each year averaging $2,000-$3,000 per recipient. The value of the award varies, depending on the tuition and registration fee at each participating Montana university or college. Must have a minimum 3.5 GPA, meet all college preparatory requirements, and be enrolled in an accredited high school for at least three years prior to graduation. Awarded to highest-ranking student in class attending a participating school. Contact high school counselor to apply. Deadline: January 31. Qualif.: High school students considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.
