Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University, Vocational/Occupational/Scholarship)

Purpose: Award for Missouri high school seniors who are residents of Missouri. The amount of the award per student each year depends on the amount the state is allotted by the U.S. Department of Education. The highest amount of award per student is $1500. Students must rank in top 10% of high school class and score in top 10% of ACT test. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Funds Avail.: Minimum no. of awards: 100. Maximum no. of awards: 150. Minimum award amount: $1100. Maximum award amount: $1500. Missouri Minority Teaching Scholarship

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: Award may be used any year up to four years at an approved, participating Missouri institution. Scholarship is for minority Missouri residents in teaching programs. Recipients must commit to teach for five years in a Missouri public elementary or secondary school. Graduate students must teach math or science. Otherwise, award must be repaid. Focus: Education Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens. Award available to the following races: Native American/Eskimo; Asian; African American; Hispanic.

Purpose: Nonrenewable award for Missouri high school seniors or Missouri resident college students. Must attend approved teacher training program at a participating Missouri institution. Must rank in top 15 % of high school class on ACT/SAT. Merit-based award. Recipients must commit to teach in Missouri for five years at a public elementary or secondary school or award must be repaid. Focus: Education Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Funds Avail.: Minimum no. of awards: 200. Maximum no. of awards: 240. Minimum award amount: $2000. No. and Amount Awarded Last Calendar Year: 240 scholarship(s), totalling $240,000.
