Minnesota Academic Excellence Scholarship

(Four Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: Students must demonstrate outstanding ability, achievement, and potential in one of the following subjects: English or creative writing, fine arts, foreign language, math, science, or social science. Implementation depends on the availability of funds, which are to come from the sale of special collegiate license plates. Apply directly to college. Must be a Minnesota resident and study in Minnesota. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens. Minnesota Reciprocal Agreement

(Four Year College, Postgraduate, Two Year College, University, Vocational/Occupational/Scholarship)

Purpose: Renewable tuition waiver for Minnesota residents. Waives all or part of non-resident tuition surcharge at public institutions in Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Deadline is last day of academic term. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens. To Apply: Required: application form.

Minnesota Safety Officers' Survivor Program

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University, Vocational/Occupational/Grant)

Purpose: Grant for eligible survivors of Minnesota public safety officer killed in the line of duty. Safety officers who have been permanently or totally disabled in the line of duty are also eligible. Must be used at a Minnesota institution participating in State Grant Program. Write for details. Must submit proof of death or disability and Public Safety Officers Benefit Fund Certificate. Must apply each year. Can be renewed for four years. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens. Award available to employees or relatives of employees within the following industries: police/firefighting.

Minnesota State Grant Program

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University, Vocational/Occupational/Grant)

Purpose: Need-based grant program available for Minnesota residents attending Minnesota colleges. Student covers 46% of cost with remainder covered by Pell Grant, parent contribution and state grant. Students apply with FAFSA and college administers the program on campus. Qualif.: Applicant must be: age 17 or older. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Funds Avail.: Minimum no. of awards: 71000. Maximum no. of awards: 75000. Minimum award amount: $100. Maximum award amount: $7662. No. and Amount Awarded Last Calendar Year: 72396 grant(s), totalling $133,590,000. To Apply: Required: application form; financial need analysis.

Minnesota State Veterans' Dependents Assistance Program

(Four Year College, Two Year College/Scholarship)

Purpose: Tuition assistance to dependents of persons considered to be prisoner-of-war or missing in action after August 1, 1958. Must be Minnesota resident attending Minnesota two- or four-year school. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens. To Apply: Required: application form.

Postsecondary Child Care Grant Program-Minnesota

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University, Vocational/Occupational/Grant)

Purpose: One-time grant available for students not receiving MFIP. Based on financial need. Cannot exceed actual child care costs or maximum award chart (based on income). Must be Minnesota resident. For use at Minnesota two- or four-year school, including public technical colleges. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.
