Dirigo Machine Tool Scholarship

(Two Year College, Vocational/Occupational/Scholarship)

Purpose: For students interested in a career in precision manufacturing. Scholarship covers one year tuition in exchange for a one year commitment to work for a sponsoring Maine Metal Products Association member company. Early College Program

(Two Year College/Scholarship)

Purpose: For high school students who have not made plans for college but are academically capable of success in college. Recipients are selected by their school principal or director. Refer to Web site: http://www.mccs.me.edu/scholarships.html. Students must be entering a Maine Community College. Qualif.: High school students considered.

Funds Avail.: Maximum no. of awards: 200. Maximum award amount: $2000.

Maine Community College Scholarship

(Two Year College, Vocational/Occupational/Scholarship)

Purpose: Participating high schools and technical centers/regions identify students to apply for the scholarship during their junior year. Students must be both nominated by their school and accepted into a Maine community college program of study. Award is $500 per semester, $1000 per year for a one-year program and a maximum of $2000 for a two-year program, so long as student meets program requirements. Funds Avail.: Minimum award amount: $500. Maximum award amount: $2000. R Renewable.

Maine Hospitals Engineers Society Scholarship

(Two Year College/Scholarship)

Purpose: Scholarship for Maine Community College student majoring in engineering or related areas. Refer to Web site for more details: http://www.mccs.me.edu/scholarships.html. Qualif.: High school students not considered.

Funds Avail.: Minimum no. of awards: 1. Maximum award amount: $2000.

George J. Mitchell Peace Scholarship

(Two Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: An annual exchange and scholarship to Ireland for students from the Maine Community College System and the University of Maine System. Scholarship will provide opportunity for student to study at a university or institute of technology in Ireland. Refer to Web site for details: http://www.mccs.me.edu. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Deadline: 2/15.

Osher Scholarship

(Two Year College/Scholarship)

Purpose: For Maine residents who are not currently enrolled at any college or university and have accumulated no more than 24 college credits. Applicant must be accepted into an AA in liberal/general studies program. Eligible applicant will receive two core courses tuition free.
