Kentucky Minority Educator Recruitment and Retention (KMERR) Scholarship

(Four Year College, University/Loan)

Purpose: Scholarship for minority teacher candidates who rank in the upper half of their class or have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Must be a U.S. citizen and Kentucky resident enrolled in one of Kentucky's eight public institutions. Must teach one semester in Kentucky for each semester the scholarship is received. Focus: Education Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens. Award available to the following races: Native American/Eskimo; Asian; African American; Hispanic.

Funds Avail.: Minimum no. of awards: 300. Minimum award amount: $2500. Maximum award amount: $5000. No. and Amount Awarded Last Calendar Year: 232 loan(s), totalling $1,200,000.
