AGROPOLIS International Graduate Research Awards in Urban Agriculture

(Postgraduate, University/Grant)

Purpose: Up to 14 annual awards to support master's or doctoral thesis research in any of the following disciplines: agricultural extension, agronomy, aquaculture, animal health and production, architecture, communications and information sciences, economics and financing, environmental studies and environmental impact assessment, food marketing, forestry, gender analysis, geography, health and nutrition, horticulture, sociology, urban planning, and waste and water engineering, public policy, and analysis. The award will cover justifiable field research expenses up to $14,000 Canadian, plus two (2) postdoctoral awards of up to $55,000 Canadian. Purpose: One-time award for Canadian graduate students undertaking research on the relationship of forest resources to the social, economic, and environmental welfare of people in developing countries. Submit curriculum vitae and proof of Canadian citizenship. Award is up to CAN$10,000. Write for complete requirements and application guidelines. Canadian Window on International Development Awards

Purpose: Award of up to CAN$14,000 for doctoral research that explores the relationship between Canadian aid, trade, immigration, diplomatic policy, and international development and the alleviation of global poverty. Applicant must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, be registered at a Canadian university, be conducting the proposed research for a doctoral dissertation, have completed course work, and passed comprehensive exams by the time of the award tenure. A second award will be granted for doctoral or master's research into a problem that is common to First Nations or Inuit communities in Canada and a developing region of the world. Use of Fertility Enhancing Food, Forage, and Cover Crops in Sustainability Managed Agroecosystems: The Bentley Fellowship

Purpose: Eligible applicants will be citizens or permanent residents of Canada or citizens of a developing country who are registered in a Canadian university or a recognized university in a developing country in agriculture, forestry, or biology for a MSc or PhD degree; recent recipients of a PhD degree in agriculture, forestry, or biology wishing to do postdoctoral research in a developing country; or qualified researchers with a degree in agriculture, forestry, or biology working outside of universities in agricultural extensions, education or production. Awards are in Canadian dollars. Focus: Biology; Agriculture Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered.
