Diversifying Higher Education Faculty in Illinois (DFI)

(University/Fellowship)

Purpose: Overall intent of DFI is to increase the number of underrepresented faculty and staff at Illinois institutions of higher education and higher education governing boards. Requires minimum GPA of 2.75 in the last sixty hours of undergraduate work or over a 3.2 in at least 9 hours of graduate study. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens and permanent aliens; must also meet Illinois residency requirements. Award available to the following races: Native American/Eskimo; Asian; African American; Hispanic. Terms: Awardee must seek and find employment as faculty or staff in an Illinois higher education setting following completion of the degree program, and work in such a capacity for the same number of years as funded.

Funds Avail.: Minimum award amount: $14,000. No. and Amount Awarded Last Calendar Year: 180 fellowship(s), totalling over $2,300,000.
