Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship-Illinois

Purpose: Available to Illinois residents who are graduating high school seniors. Based on outstanding academic merit. Awards are renewable up to four years. Must be accepted on a full-time basis as an undergraduate student. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Grant Program for Dependents of Police, Fire, or Correctional Officers

Purpose: Award for dependents of police, fire, and corrections officers killed or disabled in line of duty. Provides for tuition and fees at approved Illinois institutions. Must be resident of Illinois. Continuous deadline. Provide proof of status. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens. Award available to employees or relatives of employees within the following industries: police/firefighting.

Funds Avail.: Minimum no. of awards: 50. Maximum no. of awards: 55. Minimum award amount: $3000. Maximum award amount: $4000. Higher Education License Plate Program—HELP

Purpose: Need-based grants for students at institutions participating in program whose funds are raised by sale of special license plates commemorating the institutions. Deadline: June 30. Must be Illinois resident. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Illinois College Savings Bond Bonus Incentive Grant Program

(Four Year College, Postgraduate, Two Year College, University, Vocational/Occupational/Grant)

Purpose: Program offers holders of Illinois College Savings Bonds a $20 grant for each year of bond maturity payable upon bond redemption if at least 70% of proceeds are used to attend college in Illinois. May not be used by students attending religious or divinity schools. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Illinois Future Teachers Corps Program

(Undergraduate/Loan)

Purpose: Scholarships available for students planning to become teachers in Illinois. Students must be Illinois residents enrolled or accepted as a junior or above in a Teacher Education Program at an Illinois college or university. By receiving award, students agree to teach for 5 years at either a public, private, or parochial Illinois preschool, or at a public elementary or secondary school. Illinois Incentive for Access Program

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University, Vocational/Occupational/Grant)

Purpose: Award for eligible first-time freshmen enrolling in approved Illinois institutions. One-time grant of up to $500 may be used for any educational expense. Using the FAFSA, applicants are encouraged to apply as quickly as possible after January 1st preceding the academic year. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Funds Avail.: Minimum no. of awards: 19000. Maximum no. of awards: 22000. Minimum award amount: $300. Maximum award amount: $500. Purpose: Award for eligible students attending Illinois public universities, private colleges and universities, community colleges, and some proprietary institutions. Applicable only to tuition and fees. Based on financial need. Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon after January 1st as possible. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Illinois National Guard Grant Program

Purpose: Award for qualified National Guard personnel which pays tuition and fees at Illinois public universities and community colleges. Must provide documentation of service. Applications are due October 1 of the academic year for full year, March 1 for second/third term, or June 15 for the summer term. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens. Award available to members of the following branches of the military: Air National Guard, Army National Guard.

Purpose: Award for Illinois high school seniors graduating in the top 5% of their class and attending Illinois postsecondary institution.
