Frances C. Allen Fellowship

(University/Fellowship)

Purpose: The Frances C. Allen Fellowship is designed for graduate or pre-professional women students of American-Indian heritage for research at the Newberry Library in Chicago on topics appropriate to the Newberry Library's collections. Financial support varies according to need and may include travel expenses. Tenure of fellowship is from one month to a year. Susan Kelly Power-Helen Hornbeck Tamer Fellowship at the Newberry Library

Purpose: Fellowships supporting up to two months of residential research in any field in the humanities are available for PhD candidates and postdoctoral scholars in American-Indian heritage. Fellows will receive a stipend of $1200 per month. Must use the Newberry Library. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens. Award available to the following races: Native American/Eskimo.

Rockefeller Foundation Humanities Fellowship at the Newberry Library, Short-Term Fellowships

Purpose: Rockefeller short-term residential fellowships in American-Indian Studies at the Newberry Library are designed to promote research by historians working in reservation-based communities, tribal college faculty and librarians or curators at American-Indian cultural centers or museums. Research projects may include development, artistic works or publications. Application deadlines are January 15, April 15, and September 15.
