Canadian Blood Services Graduate Fellowship Program

(University/Fellowship)

Purpose: Awards for graduate students who are undertaking full-time research training leading to a PhD degree. Submit statement from work supervisor, title and summary of research, proposal/proposed research plan, transcripts, and, if needed, proof of entitlement to work in Canada on form GFP-01. Award for a total of CAN$20,000. The initial term of the fellowship is two years with possible renewal for an additional two years upon reapplication. Applications are available on Web site and are accepted twice annually: July 31 for funding September 1; November 15 for funding January 1. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered.

Canadian Blood Services Postdoctoral Fellowship Award

(Postgraduate, University/Fellowship)

Purpose: Program fosters transfusion science careers in Canada. Two-year award. Includes salary, research allowance, and benefits plan. Must hold a recent PhD, MD, DDS, DVM, or equivalent. Must select and contact a Canadian Blood Services affiliated scientist to serve as Postdoctoral Fellowship supervisor. Awards are in Canadian dollars. See Web site for more information. Research Fellowship in Hemostatis

Purpose: Fellowship is generally held within four years of completion of clinical fellowship training in an appropriate specialty. Submit statement from work supervisor, curriculum vitae, a cover letter from CBS/University Hospital indicating endorsement of application, proposed outline of research, long-range career plans, and summary of educational form RFH 2000. One-time award of CAN$70,000. Application is available on Web site. Co-sponsored by Novo Nordisk. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to Canadian citizens.

Transfusion Medicine Fellowship Award

Purpose: Two awards for physicians who are Canadian citizens or landed immigrants to acquire training for two years in transfusion medicine at a Canadian Blood Services Centre. Candidates must be in final year of preparation for certifying examinations by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, or should be newly qualified in a specialty of the Royal College. One-time award of CAN$54,000-CAN$65,000. Focus: Health and Medical Sciences Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to Canadian citizens.
