L. Gordon Bittle Memorial Scholarship

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: Three $2000 awards annually to active Student California Teachers Association (SCTA) members for study in a teacher preparatory program. Students may reapply each year. Applications available in October and due February 16th. Not available to those who are currently working in public schools as members of CTA. Focus: Education Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

California Teachers Association Scholarship for Dependent Children

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University, Vocational/Occupational/Scholarship)

Purpose: Twenty-five $2000 scholarships for study in higher education awarded annually. Twenty-three provided by California Teachers Association; one provided by D. A. Weber Scholarship Fund for student attending continuation high school; and one provided by Ralph J. Flynn Memorial Fund. Must be dependent child of active, retired, or deceased member of California Teachers Association. Applications available in October. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered.

Funds Avail.: Minimum no. of awards: 25. Minimum award amount: $2000. No. and Amount Awarded Last Calendar Year: 24 scholarship(s), totalling $48,000. California Teachers Association Scholarship for Members

(Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: Must be an active member of California Teachers Association (including members working on an emergency credential). Available for study in a degree, credential, or graduate program. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered.

Funds Avail.: Minimum no. of awards: 5. Minimum award amount: $2000. No. and Amount Awarded Last Calendar Year: 5 scholarship(s), totalling $10,000. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: For ethnic minority members of the California Teachers Association, their dependent children, and ethnic minority members of Student California Teachers Association who want to pursue degrees or credentials in public education. Applications available in January and due March 15. Focus: Education Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens. Award available to the following races: Native American/Eskimo; Asian; African American; Hispanic.
