Joel Garcia Memorial Scholarship

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: Scholarships for Latinos interested in pursuing a career in journalism. Awards based on scholastic achievement, financial need, and community awareness. Submit sample of work. Award for California residents or those attending school in California. Deadline is first Friday of April. Focus: Journalism; TV/Radio Broadcasting; Photojournalism/Photography; Communications Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens. Award available to persons of the following ethnic groups: Latin American/Caribbean. Award available to the following races: Hispanic.

Funds Avail.: Minimum no. of awards: 10. Maximum no. of awards: 20. Minimum award amount: $500. Maximum award amount: $2000.
