Purpose: Dissertation fellowship proposals are solicited from doctoral students beginning their dissertation work. The program supports studies that promise a significant contribution to the knowledge and understanding of student success, broadly defined, at all levels of postsecondary education. The fellow will assist NCES staff with the organization and collection of postsecondary education data. Focus: Education; Social Sciences Qualif.: High school students not considered. Summer Data Policy Institute

(Four Year College, Postgraduate, Two Year College, University, Vocational/Occupational/Fellowship)

Purpose: This two-week intensive Institute will be offered in the Washington, D.C. area to train fellows in the uses of national data to address current future research questions in institutional research, the social sciences, and postsecondary education. Fellows should have at least a basic knowledge of statistical methods and be experienced in the use of software packages (i.e., SPSS, SAS), and should have an interest in using national databases in institutional research. Fellowships cover transportation, hotel accommodations, meals, and a one-year AIR membership. Fellows accepted on the basis of a brief (3-page maximum) proposal.
