(Four Year College/Scholarship)

Purpose: One-time prize awarded annually to the winner of the West Virginia American Legion State Oratorical Contest. Must be in 9th-12th grades of accredited West Virginia high school to compete. For use at West Virginia institution. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

American Legion Department of West Virginia State Oratorical Contest

(Four Year College/Scholarship)

Purpose: Oratorical contest open to student in 9th-12th grades of any accredited West Virginia high school. Speech contests begin in January at post level and continue on to national competition. Contact local American Legion Post for deadlines and application details. Qualif.: High school students considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Purpose: Essay based on a different question each year. Award given second semester of college providing winner has passing grades first semester. Must be a resident of West Virginia and the child or grandchild of a member of The American Legion. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.
