American Legion Department of Nebraska Oratorical Awards

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University, Vocational/Occupational/Prize)

Purpose: Several one-time awards ranging from $100 to $1000 for high school students who are residents of Nebraska. Must submit speech. Must have minimum of 2.5 GPA. Must be between the ages of 14-19. Qualif.: Applicant must be: 14-19 years old, full-time student. High school students considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Funds Avail.: Maximum no. of awards: 19. Minimum award amount: $100. Maximum award amount: $1000. No. and Amount Awarded Last Calendar Year: 18 prize(s), totalling $3,600. Edgar J. Boschult Memorial Scholarship

(Four Year College/Scholarship)

Purpose: One-time award available to ROTC students or veterans attending a University of Nebraska system school. Must be a full-time student to qualify. Several awards ranging from $200 to $400. Minimum 2.5 GPA required. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Maynard Jensen American Legion Memorial Scholarship

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University, Vocational/Occupational/Scholarship)

Purpose: Scholarship for dependents or grandchildren of members, prisoner-of-war, missing-in-action veterans, killed-in-action veterans, or any deceased veterans of the American Legion. One-time award is based on academic achievement and financial need for Nebraska residents attending Nebraska institutions. Several scholarships of $500 each. Must have minimum 2.5 GPA and must submit school certification of GPA. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.
