American Legion Department of Minnesota Memorial Scholarship

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University, Vocational/Occupational/Scholarship)

Purpose: Scholarship available to Minnesota residents who are dependents of members of the Minnesota American Legion or Auxiliary. Award for study at a Minnesota institution or neighboring state with reciprocating agreement. One-time award of $500. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Funds Avail.: Minimum no. of awards: 6. Minimum award amount: $500. No. and Amount Awarded Last Calendar Year: 6 scholarship(s), totalling $3,000. American Legion Department of Minnesota State Oratorical Contest

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University, Vocational/Occupational/Scholarship)

Purpose: Oratorical contest open to students in 9th-12th grades of any accredited Minnesota high school. Speech contests begin in January at post level and continue to national competition. Contact local American Legion Post for deadlines and application details. Four one-time awards of varying amounts. Qualif.: High school students considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Funds Avail.: Minimum no. of awards: 4. Minimum award amount: $500. Maximum award amount: $1200. No. and Amount Awarded Last Calendar Year: 4 scholarship(s), totalling $3,300. One-time award of $500. All applications must be approved and recommended by a post of the American Legion. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.
