Ted and Nora Anderson Scholarships

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University, Vocational/Occupational/Scholarship)

Purpose: Scholarship for children of American Legion or Auxiliary members. Must be high school seniors or college freshmen or sophomores. Scholarship for use at an approved Kansas college, university, or trade school. Must be Kansas resident. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Dr. Click Cowger Baseball Scholarship

(Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: Scholarship available to a high school senior or college freshman or sophomore who plays or has played Kansas American Legion baseball. Scholarships must be used at an approved Kansas institution. Must be Kansas resident. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Paul Flaherty Athletic Scholarship

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University, Vocational/Occupational/Scholarship)

Purpose: Scholarship available to student who has participated in any form of Kansas high school athletics. Award must be used at an approved Kansas college, university, or trade school. Must be a Kansas resident. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Charles W. and Annette Hill Scholarship

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University, Vocational/Occupational/Scholarship)

Purpose: Available to high school seniors, college level freshmen, or sophomores who are in need of educational assistance, and are enrolled or intend to enroll in an approved school located in the state of Kansas. The applicant must be descendant of a member of the Kansas American Legion and/or Legion Auxiliary. Minimum 3.0 GPA required. Consideration given to those majoring in science, engineering, or business administration. Focus: Engineering/Technology; Business/Consumer Services; Physical Sciences and Math Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Hobble (LPN) Nursing Scholarship

(Four Year College, Two Year College/Scholarship)

Purpose: This is an outright grant of $300 (payable one time) at the start of the first semester, awarded only upon acceptance and verification of enrollment by the scholarship winner in an accredited Kansas school which awards a diploma for Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN). The applicant must have attained the age of 18 prior to taking the Kansas State Board Examination. The scholarship will be awarded to an individual who is both qualified and in need of financial aid. Focus: Nursing Qualif.: Applicant must be: age 18 or older. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Albert M. Lappin Scholarship

The children of deceased members are also eligible if parents' dues were paid up at time of death. Must be high school senior or college freshman or sophomore. Must use award at a Kansas college, university, or trade school. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

National High School Oratorical Contest

(Undergraduate/Prize)

Purpose: Oratorical contest open to students in 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades of any accredited Kansas high school. Speech contests begin in January at post level and continue on to national competition. Contact local American Legion for deadlines. Qualif.: Applicant must be: age 20 or younger . High school students considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Rosedale Post 346 Scholarship

(Four Year College, Two Year College, Vocational/Occupational/Scholarship)

Purpose: Available to high school seniors, college level freshmen, or sophomores who are in need of educational assistance, and are enrolled or intend to enroll in an approved school located in the state of Kansas. The applicant must be the son or daughter of a veteran; the parent(s) must have been a member of the Kansas American Legion and/or Legion Auxiliary for the past three years. The sons or daughters of deceased members in either organization are also eligible if the parent's dues were paid up at the time of death. The applicant must be an average or better student scholastically. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.
