Purpose: Three cash prizes recognizing the best graduate student papers on environmental protection through chemical engineering. Graduate student must be primary author and be a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers at the time paper is submitted. Paper must describe original research and be suitable for publication in a refereed journal. Must be nominated. Focus: Chemical Engineering Qualif.: High school students not considered.

Environmental Division Undergraduate Student Paper Award
(Four Year College, University/Prize)
Purpose: Cash prizes awarded to full-time undergraduate students who prepare the best original papers based on the results of research or an investigation related to the environment. The work must be performed during the student's undergraduate enrollment, and the paper must be submitted prior to or within six months of graduation. Student must be the sole author of the paper, but faculty guidance is encouraged. Student must be a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers Student Chapter. Student's college or university must have an accredited program in chemical engineering. Must be nominated. Focus: Chemical Engineering Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered.

John J. McKetta Undergraduate Scholarship

Purpose: A $5000 scholarship will be awarded to a junior or senior student member of AICHE who is planning a career in the chemical engineering process industries. Must maintain a 3.0 GPA. Applicant should show leadership or activity in either the school's AICHE Student Chapter or other university sponsored campus activities. Donald F. and Mildred Topp Othmer Foundation-National Scholarship Awards

Purpose: Each year, fifteen national AICHE student members are awarded a scholarship of $1000. Awards are presented on the basis of academic achievement and involvement in student chapter activities. Must be carried out while the student is enrolled at a university with an accredited chemical engineering program. Student must be the primary author (faculty advisors may be co-authors). Purpose: Students present technical papers at the student regional conferences which are held in the spring. Safety and Chemical Engineering Education (SACHE) Student Essay Award

Purpose: Two $500 dollar awards will be presented to the individuals submitting the best essays on the topic of chemical process safety. Essays may focus on process safety in education, relevance of safety in undergraduate education, or integrating safety principles into the undergraduate chemical engineering curriculum. The essay must be no more than 1500 words. The student must be an undergraduate student. The student's school must be a member of SACHE. Focus: Chemical Engineering Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Safety and Health National Student Design Competition Award for Safety

Purpose: Four $500 awards available for each of the teams or individuals who apply one or more of the following concepts of inherent safety in their designs: a) Design the plant for easier and effective maintainability; b) design the plant with less waste; c) Design the plant with special features that demonstrate inherent safety; d) Include design concepts regarding the entire life cycle. The school must have a student chapter of AIChE. Focus: Chemical Engineering Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Separations Division Graduate Student Research Award
(Prize)
Purpose: Recognizes six outstanding graduate students in any of the Separations Division's areas: (1) Adsorption and Ion Exchange, (2) Crystallization and Evaporation, (3) Distillation and Absorption, (4) Extraction, (5) Fluid-Particle Separations, (6) Membrane-based separations, (7) Bioseparations and (8) General Separations. The paper must report on research, investigation, or design, and must be part of the student's work for graduate degree. The paper may be co-authored by others, but the student nominee must have been the primary author. The paper should be of quality acceptable for publication in journals such as the AIChE Journal and Chemical Engineering Science. Nomination must be from a member of AIChE.
