Purpose: Provides U.S. graduate students with support for overseas study and limited domestic tuition to pursue the study of languages, cultures, and world regions deemed critical to U.S. national security. Excluded is study of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Award recipients incur a requirement to work for an agency or office of the federal government involved in national security affairs or in the field of higher education in an area of study for which the fellowship was awarded, in that order of precedence. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Purpose: Enables graduates to work for at least two years in nonprofits addressing social justice issues. In addition to salary and benefits, Fellows may apply for up to $6,000 to cover student loans or other approved expenses.
