Purpose: For master's and doctoral degree candidates enrolled in an accredited graduate program. Qualifications based on academic performance and potential, career goals, recommendations, and compatibility of proposed project with the needs and resources of the host facility. Duration ranges from one to twelve months; non-thesis research applicants are generally placed for eight to sixteen weeks in the summer or for a semester. Placement on a project at a facility with a stipend and may include tuition assistance and an allowance for travel. Participants are encouraged to seek academic credit for their experience at their home institution.
