SAT Prep | During and After the Test

DURING THE TEST
Once in the test center, follow all rules and instructions given by the instructor and in the SAT booklet. If you fail to do this, you risk being dismissed from the test and having your SAT scores cancelled.

After all test materials are distributed, the test supervisor will provide directions on completing the answer sheet. As with all other sections of the test, fill in this section carefully. Fill in your name exactly as it appears on your admission ticket and identification document (unless otherwise instructed).

Remember that you can write in your test booklet. No scratch paper is provided or allowed during the test. Mark your answers in the appropriate spaces on the answer sheet. Each numbered row contains five ovals that correspond to each answer choice for that question. Fill in the oval that corresponds to your answer completely, darkly, and neatly. You can change an answer, but you must completely erase your original response. Only one answer should be marked. This is crucial to accurate score reporting, as your answer sheet will be scored by a machine. Stray lines and unnecessary marks will cause the machine to score answers incorrectly.

Because your essay will be scored by a person, not a machine, remember to write neatly. No points will be deducted for poor handwriting, but illegible handwriting impairs communication.

AFTER THE TEST
Once your test materials have been collected, you will be dismissed. Then your day is free. Go home and relax. Or reward yourself with some shopping. Or play a video game. Or hang with friends. The good news is that the hard part is over. Now you just have to wait for the results.
