Background
The Siamese-Cambodian Wars were actually a continuation of an earlier generation of conflict. From the thirteenth to fifteenth centuries, incessant Siamese-Cambodian fighting contributed to the decline of the Khmer Empire, which at its height controlled most of modern-day Thailand, parts of Laos, the northern Malay Peninsula, and southern Vietnam.
