Article abstract: The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) took military action against Yugoslavia after that country began a campaign of terror against the ethnic Albanian majority of the Serbian province of Kosovo. NATO feared that this campaign would destabilize neighboring countries and might lead to a broader Balkan war.
