Summary of Event
Under the rule of Leonid Brezhnev (1964-1982), numerous types of Soviet dissenters existed, religious groups, professional groups, and national groups among them. The Moscow Human Rights Committee came to play an important role in facilitating communication among the different activists and in publicizing incidents of Soviet repression to the West.
