Jumper

Article abstract: Jumper was among the most outstanding leaders during the Second Seminole War of 1835-1842.

Little is known of the early life of Jumper. Born a Red Stick Creek, he first became known for his leadership during the First Seminole War in Florida conducted by General Andrew Jackson from 1816-1818. The treaty of 1823 eventually signed between the Seminoles and the U.S. government restricted the Indians to what was essentially inhospitable land.
