Article abstract: This period saw the last of the Indian wars, significant changes in white attitudes toward Native Americans, and important attempts to regularize the legal status of American Indians by new acts of law.
In the period between 1871 and 1933, the last of the tragic Indian wars were fought, and several attempts were made by the federal government to reform Indian policy.
