Hussars

The first hussars were light cavalrymen in the late fifteenth century Hungary, who were particularly skilled in raiding and reconnaissance missions. After a failed revolt against Hapsburg rule (1676-1681), many hussars and other Hungarian military personnel left their native soil to serve in the armies of other nations. Hussars first entered the army of France in 1692, Prussia in 1721, and Russia in 1725.
