Allied with the French during the French and Indian War, Hopocan led the war faction of his tribe against Gelelemend's peace faction. He participated in Pontiac's Rebellion in 1763 and was captured at Fort Pitt. With the cessation of hostilities, Hopocan settled on the Muskingum River in Ohio.
