Article abstract: Malenkov was a close associate of Joseph Stalin in his bloody terror against the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and Soviet society in general. In 1953, he was Stalin’s immediate successor as prime minister of the government and first secretary of the Communist Party, positions that he soon lost in the power struggle with Nikita S. Khrushchev.
