Frederick Law Olmsted

Article abstract: Olmsted traveled extensively in the antebellum South and wrote some of America’s best critical descriptions of slavery on the eve of the Civil War. He designed Central Park in New York City and other urban parks across the country. Olmsted is considered the father of the profession of landscape architecture in the United States.
