Article abstract: Francis La Flesche joined his sister Susette La Flesche in working with the Poncas in their struggle to regain their homeland during the late 1870's and 1880's.

The son of Omaha chief Joseph La Flesche and Elizabeth Esau, Francis La Flesche traveled with Ponca chief Standing Bear and Omaha journalist Thomas H. Tibbles on a tour of several eastern cities to advance the Poncas’ cause after they had been given shelter by the Omahas. He worked as an interpreter on the tour.
