Dan George began his acting career when he was in his sixties. Previously he was a laborer and musician, and from 1951 to 1963 he was chief of his Tell-lall-watt band of the Burrard Salish. In 1959 George had a part in a Canadian television series entitled Caribou Country. He appeared in the film Smith in 1969.
