Summary of Event
The Brezhnev Doctrine was a Soviet foreign policy directed toward keeping the East European satellite countries in line. It was used to justify Soviet military intervention to restore Soviet Communist authority over the satellites and to strengthen the Soviet’s grip over them. The Brezhnev Doctrine was also used as the ideological basis of Soviet empire.
