Anton von Webern

Article abstract: Webern brought to the second Viennese school a unique and highly individual compositional approach. Like his mentor Arnold Schoenberg, Webern broke with existing musical traditions and developed a new compositional language and perspective. His adaptation of Schoenberg’s twelve-tone method, based upon his own contrapuntal proclivity and concise musical rhetoric, proved to be the major influence on the subsequent generation of composers.
