Article abstract: Verrocchio was one of the best sculptors of the later part of the fifteenth century and a great favorite of the Medici family. He was able to work in silver, bronze, and terracotta as well as marble and was also active as a painter. It was in Verrocchio’s workshop that Leonardo da Vinci received his first training.
