    That quote, from the very beginning of the play, refers to Romeo and Juliet.  "Star-crossed" refers to the fates and the future that is written in the stars - Shakespeare is poetically implying that they were fated from the beginning to die, and he is also letting his audience know from the very beginning what is going to happen to them.
