Posted by linda-allen on Wednesday April 30, 2008 at 4:05 PMAs for a "translation," eNotes has a modern translation of the play side-by-side with the Elizabethan version. I've pasted a link to it below. As for synonyms of the words you've listed, you should be able to figure those out for yourself if you'll read the text I've referred to. I'll help you out with a few:
- to spit something means to skewer it
- "methinks" is an archaic way of saying "I believe"
- "Stay" is another way of saying "Stop"
- a rapier is a type of sword
- a shroud is a burial cloth
- to be distraught is to be very upset about something
- to dash out someone's brains is to beat his head against something
Now, you should be able to figure out mutilated, ancestors, and surrounded.
