The ending of "Romeo and Juliet," albeit tragic, is at least uplifting in the fact that the feuding families become reconciled. However, if the families were to continue their fighting in spite of the sacrifice of their beloved children, the denouement would be both pessimistc and tragic. For, the sacrifice of the two beautiful youths would be for nought. In addition, the romantic and poignant tale of Romeo and Juliet might not be as legendary as it is since there is something that lends eternity to the sacrifice of young lovers when the cause is worthy.
