Discussion of Speculation Paragraphs Versus Actual Events of Act 4

You may either ask students to comment on what they anticipated would happen during Act 4 or randomly read a few of the responses submitted.

  • If responses varied from the actual unfolding of events, ask students why they anticipated a different outcome.
  • If responses matched the actual events, ask students what clues in previous acts led them to speculate as they did.
  • In either case, ask students to try to support their speculations by citing lines from the play.
