The Story:
California was the daughter of a Scottish father and a Spanish and Indian mother. From her mother she had inherited a dark beauty and a passionate nature. When she was still very young, she married a farmer named Johnny; by the time she was twenty-one, her features were already beginning to show the marks of hard work.
