This is a good question for the discussion board. Below is a list of books about life after the apocalypse. I'm not sure any of these books "explain the miracle of hopes," but they do have a hopeful message: Darwin's Radio and Darwin's Children by Greg Bear, Armageddon's Children, by Terry Brooks. Of course, you could also look at Paradise Lost, by Milton.

"The Postman" by David Brin is an excellent choice. http://www.enotes.com/postman-salem/postman "Gordon's appointed postmasters would continue lying without knowing it, using the tale of a restored nation to bind the land together, until the fable wasn't needed anymore. Or until, by believing it, people made it come true." I love end-of-the-world fiction. The best of the genre include "The Stand," "On the Beach," "The Day of the Triffids" and "Lucifer's Hammer." "A Canticle for Leibowitz" is a great novel about an alternative future. "One the Beach" is another good one. Check out the Post Apocalyptic Media website. It may be a good resource for you. http://www.pamedia.com/phpNuke/index.php Posted by morrol on Nov 5, 2008. |

"Good Omens" by Terri Pratchett and Neil Gaiman is a humorous take on the apocalypse. I highly recommend it! http://www.amazon.com/Good-Omens-Neil-Gaiman/dp/0441003257 Posted by slchanmo1885 on Dec 15, 2008. |
