Assuming you don't just mean "Dinesen wrote it," that's a nicely subtle question.

Janet Handler Burstein (http://www.enotes.com/ring/22402) suggests that Lise's character has a lot in common with many characters in Dinesen's fiction: the quest for the meaning of self and other.

Bruce Bassoff (http://www.enotes.com/ring/22401) argues that in this story Dinesen moves through a familiar pattern: a desire to transcend the world, then a fall back into common reality.

I would say there are simpler connections. Dinesen could trace her roots back to the middle ages, and Rungsted (where she was born) seemed distinctly ancient, making fables and epics natural to her.
