Why do you think that the bird relates to the mariners? What does this question mean and what do you think the answer might be?

I'm not 100% sure what you're asking here, but I think you're asking, "How does the bird relate to the mariners"?  If so, the bird is symbolic of nature, which the mariner had no respect for when he shot it for no good reason.  Also, the albatross is seen as a good omen for mariners, so when he shot it, the other mariners were angry with him because they felt that killing the albatross would bring them bad luck, and it did! They all died except for the mariner who had shot the albatross.  Luckily, he realizes that he should have had a greater respect for the albatross (and for nature in general) and he repents and is "saved" from death.
