I am writing this review on April 24; the pub date for this novel is May 12. But today I read Michiko Kakutani's review of the book in the New York Times, appearing two and a half weeks before publication and almost assuredly before the book is in stores. An accident that our ever-brilliant reviewer at the Times, ever the fact-checker, jumped the gun?
